Dear incoming first-year students of Hotel and Facility Management,
Welcome to the Intersib 2024 Introduction Week! From Tuesday, August 27th till Thursday, August 29th, an exciting program awaits you, filled with activities to welcome you to Breda University of Applied Sciences.
We are Willemien Wiersma and Jack Maas, coordinators from Breda University of Applied Sciences. Together with our Introduction Committee and over 100 volunteers, we will ensure that these days become unforgettable. During this time, we are here to guide and support you in everything you need.
Our goal is to provide you an unforgettable week in a safe environment and focusing on your well-being. It’s a week where you’ll not only get to know the university and the city but also have, the opportunity to form lasting friendships. From informative sessions to fun team-building activities, this introduction week is designed to help you integrate into our academy’s community and kickstart your study adventure in a fantastic way.

I hope you are already a bit excited for your upcoming Intersib!
Let me introduce myself, my name is Lieke, I am 22 years old and graduated in Hotel Management this summer. I am raised in Geldrop, next to Eindhoven, and moved to Breda a few months after starting my study, because I was ready to explore the student life. I live together with 4 girls and like to cook at home, play tennis, enjoy a good glass of wine and go to festivals! I currently work at Restaurant Blossem in Breda where I am extending my knowledge of wine.
And my name is Sophie, and I am a fourth year student of Hotel Management at BUAS. I live in a student house in Breda, and I play hockey at hockey club Zwart-Wit. In addition to that I work in 2 different Café’s in Breda, Café Walkabout and Café Dunne and in the summer you can see me walking across the terrace of Biercafé de Huiskamer. I my free time I love to open a good bottle of wine with a delicious ‘borrelplank’.
During this year’s Intersib, you will see us walking around and making chats with you guys. As a trustee, We want everybody to feel included and comfortable during these first days of your new journey, this can be about anything! Missing home, the feeling that you don’t fit in the group, being scared to start your student life in Breda, sexual harassment etc. Or do you just want to know things from Breda? The party life, school life or sport life you can always come to us for a chat!

Hello everyone!
First, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Juan Esteban Figueroa Ochoa, and I am a fourth-year international student studying International Facility Management. I was born in Colombia but raised in the Dutch Caribbean Island called St. Maarten. Currently, I am a board member for the student association ‘t KAG here at school. I enjoy socializing, playing sports, and helping people whenever I can.
During this year’s Intersib, you will see me around, always ready for a chat and to get to know you better. I am here to support you in any way possible. Whether you are feeling homesick, struggling to fit in, nervous about starting your student life, or facing any other concerns, feel free to reach out to me. I’m here to listen and assist with anything, from sharing tips about student life to talking about any topic that comes to mind.
